WAALI recently celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of its Emerging Aboriginal Leaders Program. The graduation was hosted by His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM and Mrs Dawson at Government House in Western Australia.

The event was made even more memorable with the presence of Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, who also attended the ceremony. The Governor-General praised the program’s commitment to empowering emerging leaders and its role in shaping a brighter future for Aboriginal communities. The ceremony highlighted the achievements of the graduates and the importance of cultural and community connections in leadership development.

Special congratulations to graduates Jaida Penny, Tayla Phillips, William Reidy, Lori Wilkinson, and Kriccia Woods for their exceptional commitment and success in completing the program. Their dedication and growth are a testament to the program’s vision of nurturing leaders who embrace cultural strength and drive positive change in their communities.

The support and recognition from the Governor-General emphasise the importance of initiatives like this in inspiring a new generation of Aboriginal young people who are leading meaningful in their lives, families, and communities.

WAALI extends its gratitude to all who made the graduation ceremony a resounding success, including our Elders, the Governor-General, the Governor and Mrs Dawson, participants, mentors, and supporters.
